WOSU Chefs in the City 2011

Each year WOSU Public Media hosts, “Chefs in the City,” an annual culinary event featuring some of Columbus’s finest Chefs and one celebrity Chef. Each Chef is invited to showcase their extraordinary cooking skills in front of a live audience. Proceeds from the event will benefit children’s educational programming on WOSU TV.

This year, I got the honor to meet and photograph master Chef, Jacques Pepin. If you’re not familiar with Chef Pepin, he is highly regarded for his classic French cuisine. Over 60 years of cooking experience and 26 books written on the subject, he is a true legend and one of the most influential Chefs in the culinary world. He’s quite witty and charming too.

This year’s Chefs:
Jacques Pepin
Jeni Britton Bauer – Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams
Richard Blondin – Refectory
Travis Hyde – Z Cucina
Hubert Seifert – Spagio
John Skaggs – Two Caterers
David Tetzloff – G. Michael’s Bistro

To view the show, tune in this Saturday, April 30, at 1pm on WOSU TV and May 1, at 4pm on WOSU PLUS

Here are some highlights from the event including the shots of the most declicious food ever, and the desert from Jeni’s … oh goodness you’ve got to try it to believe it.

Austin | Upper Arlington Senior

Sneak preview from a recent shoot with Austin for his Senior Portrait. Austin is an incredible person, full of personality, and really fun to be around. He has more colorful shoes than anyone I know – a pair that matches every outfit, how cool is that? These are a few from many of our favorites … Enjoy!

Beginner’s Photography Workshop – Part 2

Workflow & In-Depth Editing Techniques

We had an incredible response to our first workshop collaboration. Lauryn and I received some really great feedback from everyone who attended. We value all your input and we’ve used your feedback to tailor future workshops to make them the best learning experience ever. So thank you to all who took part in the class on Feb. 19th.

For those that couldn’t make it, the primary focus of the first workshop was on camera functions with a basic overview of workflow and instructed shoot time after the class for those that could stay. During this class, we asked the group if anyone would be interested in a part 2-editing session. Almost everyone raised their hand. So, the date is set and we’re ready to go. We’ve cut the class size in half, allowing more opportunity for Q&A and hands-on assistance. And the time will be spent mostly on how to make basic edit adjustments to improve your images. We will also offer instructed shoot time again but during the last 20-30 minutes of the class. Here’s a preview sample of a couple of “before and after” edits. Unfortunately, not every photo can be “shot” perfectly and sometimes it’s essential to do a little editing in post-production to enhance or enrich the photo, which leads us to Part 2 of our workshop.

Baby Codyn

Meet baby Codyn, just a little over four months old. It’s been such a pleasure getting to know Courtney and Andy for the past few years. Being their wedding photographer is one thing but being invited to document their little bundle of joy places what I do to a whole new level. Here’s to all the “first” that’s about to come.

A little preview from my time with baby Codyn …
