As an Artist I have this undying thirst to understand what it is I do and why I do it. Today, a friend of mine posed that question in our photo group meeting and received some really profound answers. Why are we doing this? I think it definitely got us all thinking. For me, it’s about that relentless passion that has always been deeply seeded in my heart and I don’t think it will ever go away nor do I ever want it to. Photography is tricky and there are a lot of nuances and challenges that, I believe, make us stronger as professionals. Without going too deep into some philosophical mind flow I wanted to share with you this shot I captured a couple of weeks ago of my lovely wife, Jill. Photography is so much about the light but it’s also about the shadows and I love it when the two play nice. Light can be a great friend or the worst of enemies. That said, I surrender to its power and will forever be a student of it. Will I ever understand it? Maybe. Here’s the shot – this is why I love what I do.
